What's The Purpose Of An Office And Do We Need Them?

All the conversations related to the future of work these days seem to be pointing towards the end of offices. Yet we have organizations all over the world like Google, Apple, Samsung, Facebook, and many others who are investing countless dollars into creating new amazing office spaces. So if the future of work is all about not having an office then why are so many companies investing in new office spaces? Perhaps they didn't get the "no office memo?" Two years ago I wrote a post on the 8 Indisputable Reasons Why We Don't Need Offices which generated quite a lot of discussion on this topic. While I do see the office as no longer being the only way for us to get our jobs done, it still does serve a purpose and I don't see it disappearing any time soon. So what's the purpose of an office when we think about the future of work? That's exactly what I talk about in the latest episode of the #futurein5, and here's a hint, it's all about creating experiences.
