When And How To Hand Over The Reins To Your Business

Each month, a little more than a quarter of a million Americans turn 65 and many of those are entrepreneurs who have worked hard to build successful businesses and are often reluctant to give up control of the business to the next generation of leaders.

No, Philip Rivers did not murder a bird on 'Monday Night Football'

News from the NFL: Philip Rivers and the San Diego Chargers battled to the final seconds in a 24-20 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers on this week's edition of Monday Night Football.

But, despite what many viewers thought, Rivers did not — we repeat, did not — punch and maybe murder a bird on live television

After one Chargers touchdown, ESPN cameras caught Rivers celebrating the score by punching, well, punching something out of the air. Here's the clip.

What the?! Was that a bird? Plenty of people thought so

Am I high or did Phillip Rivers actually punch a bird out of the sky?! https://t.co/suzx4pWlQX

KENT, England— The bags are packed, the goodbye hugs done. The Afghan, Eritrean and Sudanese boys are on the move again, but this time it's a happy occasion: After months of hardship traversing continents, the teenage refugees are finally on the way to English homes where they can settle down for a long dreamed-of life in Europe.

The dozens of boys are unaccompanied child refugees who have come to the end of a long, risky journey by boat, foot, truck and train. Upon reaching the shores of Dover they were brought to a reception center in Kent, southern England, where they were given temporary shelter. As the teenagers leave for more permanent social housing or foster homes, they are seen off by another group of boys who are eagerly awaiting their turn. Read more...

New Grateful Dead music with John Mayer? Hey, it could happen.

LOS ANGELES — John Mayer is, by any seasoned Deadhead's measure, a real newbie.

Already four albums and seven Grammy wins into his career as a radio-friendly pop/rock star, Mayer first "heard" the Grateful Dead in 2011. The song was "Althea," a late-vintage Dead song co-written and sung by the late Jerry Garcia — and on Pandora Radio, of all things

Smash cut to four years later: Mayer is about to stand in Garcia's shoes, playing lead guitar and singing dozens of songs during a 15-show fall tour billed as Dead & Company. The latest reunion kicks off Oct. 29 in Albany, New York (with a bonus "free" show Nov. 7 at Madison Square Garden for the Dead's charity, the Robin Hood Foundation). Read more...

Veteran Showtime drama Homeland returned for a fifth season Sunday night, and with it pushed ahead two years in the life of now-former CIA operative Carrie Mathison.

The time jump — which has seen increased popularity in TV drama premieres, from Halt and Catch Fire, to The Leftovers, to Masters of Sex — has allowed Carrie’s life to quiet down considerably since her involvement in season four’s Islamabad bloodbath at the U.S. Embassy.

No longer working for the CIA, Carrie now lives in Berlin and is in a steady relationship with a man named Jonas who, like or it not, bears a vague resemblance to her deceased flame Nick Brody. Her daughter Franny seems to be adjusting well to growing up in Berlin, and Jonas plays the role of doting stepfather. Carrie goes to a Catholic church. She prays. Or perhaps, she is trying to atone Read more...

In the eastern Ukrainian city of Makiivka, Oleg, a taxi driver-turned-rebel fighter, watched as Russian TV news channels glorified the Kremlin's foray into the Syria conflict.

"Nothing about Ukraine at all," said Oleg, who spoke on condition that his last name not be used. "We...have totally vanished."

After 17 months of blanket coverage of the Ukraine conflict that has cost thousands of lives and sent more than a million people on the run, Russia has switched the focus of its powerful state propaganda machine to Moscow's new exploit in the Middle East. But the tactics it is employing appear to be much the same. Read more...

While many protests have emerged against school dress codes as of late, students at Charleston County School of the Arts in South Carolina took it one step further and borrowed a leaf out of their assigned reading and incorporated The Scarlet Letter into their protest to remind everyone that teen girls' bodies are not a distraction

The young women of Charleston County School took their literature lessons to heart and protested by wearing red letter A's as part of their outfits — taking inspiration from Nathaniel Hawthorne's 1850 novel about a young woman who is made to wear a scarlet letter "A" as punishment to publicly shame her for adultery Read more...
