‘The More Bias': Why We Don’t Care Enough About The Population Crisis

Somewhere near the middle of Joel Bourne’s The End of Plenty – a devastating call to action to anyone concerned about the global food crisis — he gets to the heart of the matter: our ability to grow food for a growing planet is only advancing arithmetically — e.g., steadily, incrementally, despite the scientific innovations of the so-called Green Revolution that began a half century ago. At the same time, our global population is growing algorithmically — exponentially — outpacing our ability to feed the world. By mid-century, our population will grow by two billion, the equivalent of two Indias at its 1999 numbers (it’s already grown by close to 300 million more in less than two decades).
